'Nine years apart' from Kim Min-jae, the next big thing could return to Munich

Bayern Munich fans are more in favor of Julian Nagelsmann returning to the club, according to a poll conducted by local media.

"Munich are looking for a successor to Thomas Tuchel, who will leave this summer," Germany's Sky Sports reported on Saturday (June 16). Now, the idea of Nagelsmann's return is becoming more and more concrete. Nagelsmann has emerged as a top priority after Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso, who was initially the first choice, fell through."

The outlet then ran a poll to see if Nagelsmann should be reinstated. As of today, more than 25,000 fans have voted, with 58% in favor of his return. However, 42% are skeptical.

Munich decided to part ways with Tuchel at the end of February. The main reason for Tuchel's departure was poor results. Munich are currently on the brink of irrelevance this season. They lost to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup earlier this season and were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal. They also failed to win the German Bundesliga.

After winning 11 consecutive league titles last season, Munich were crowned champions by Leverkusen. Leverkusen raced to the top of the table after an unbeaten start to the season. Munich had chances to turn the tables, but a 0-3 loss to Leverkusen in mid-February proved fatal, as a win would have allowed them to take the lead. Before the match, Munich were on 50 points and Leverkusen were on 52, but the gap widened.

The Bavarians then lost back-to-back matches against Lazio and Bochum, their third consecutive defeat in official matches. Shortly after the Bochum game, Munich decided to 메이저사이트 keep Tuchel at the helm until the end of the season. Initially, there was a possibility of an immediate dismissal, but the club decided that no one was suitable as an interim coach.

Tuchel's successor was considered by many. At first, Alonso was the favorite. Alonso had proven his leadership skills by leading Leverkusen to their first trophy in the club's history. He also played for Munich as a player. As such, he was considered the first choice for the next managerial position, but it"s not a possibility at the moment.

Nagelsmann is next on the list of possible candidates. Nagelsmann is currently 36 years old. He is one year younger than Munich's veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and only nine years older than Kim Min-jae. Nagelsmann started his coaching career early and was hailed as the next big thing after stints at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.

Nagelsmann took over at Munich ahead of the 2021-22 season. However, he was unsuccessful and left midway through last season. Shortly after his dismissal, Nagelsmann took charge of the German national team. His contract runs until Euro2024. If he does not continue with the national team after Euro 2024, a return to Munich is not out of the question.
