Still cautious Son Heung-min...Neville also "can't win Tottenham"

Son Heung-min is cautious about winning the title. Gary Neville doesn't think Tottenham Hotspur will be able to compete for the title. Enze Postecoglou, on the other hand, was positive.

Tottenham defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 in the 10th round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) at Selhurst Park in London, England, at 4 a.m. ET on Sunday. With the win, Spurs, unbeaten in their opening 10 games, moved to 26 points and opened up a five-point gap at the top of the table.

Son Heung-min led his team to victory again. Spurs took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute of the second half when James Maddison drew an own goal. However, it was a precarious one-goal lead. This is where Son Heung-min shined once again. In the 21st minute of the second half, Son received a cutback from Brennan Johnson and rattled the net with a neat finish.

It was his eighth goal of the league. With the goal, Son moved into sole possession of second place on the league scoring list with eight goals. He overtook Mohamed Salah, who was tied with seven goals, and moved within one goal of Elling Holland (nine).

Son Heung-min has now scored 111 goals in the PL. This puts him in 24th place on the all-time list, ahead of Emil Heskey, who was tied with 110 goals. He is now tied with Sadio Mane and Dion Dublin. He closed the gap on 23rd-place Ian Wright (113) to two goals and is now seven goals behind Raheem Sterling (118). He is also nine goals behind 21st-placed Steven Gerrard (120).

The win extended Tottenham's unbeaten run to 10 games and opened up a five-point gap at the top of the table. Manchester City and Arsenal, who have yet to play, are second and third with 21 points apiece. City travels to Manchester United, while Arsenal faces Sheffield United at home.

Tottenham is increasingly being talked about as a title contender. Tottenham's last English top-flight title came in the 1960-61 season. When asked about their chances of winning the title after 63 years, Son was cautious. "I'm a 31-year-old with a lot of experience. I can't say 'we're going to win the league'. Of course not. We want to stay low and stay humble because it's early in the season."

Neville, a former United player, also sees Tottenham's chances of winning the title as low: "I don't think they're title contenders," he told Sky Sports in 토토사이트 the UK. "I think things will sort themselves out in the next couple of months when some teams get knocked out of Europe and don't play midweek games," he argued.

"Tottenham are obviously not in another competition. They're not playing in Europe, and they're out of the EFL Cup. If they can keep their players, they have a couple of weeks to relax."

However, Neville added: "I don't think Tottenham are a good enough squad or a good enough team to win the league. Their performance at this point has exceeded our expectations of where we thought they would be."

However, Postecoglou was positive: "Let the fans dream, that's what being a football fan is all about. They've suffered a lot, so I'm not going to dampen their dreams."
